American Express

American Express Business Gold Card

The Business Gold is American Express's mid-tier business charge card, and its earning structure is built to flex with how a company actually spends. You earn 4X Membership Rewards points on the two categories where your business spends the most each billing cycle, chosen from six options that cover advertising, software and cloud, restaurants, gas, transit, and wireless, on the first $150,000 in combined purchases each calendar year. The catch is that only two categories earn the elevated rate at a time and everything else drops to 1X, so the card pays off for a business whose spend concentrates in a couple of those buckets rather than one spread thin across all six.
